Entertainment Weekly: The Greatest Hits 1982 presents a cross-section of the year's mainstream pop, from new wave and synth-pop (the Stray Cats, the Human League, the Cars, Tommy Tutone, A Flock of Seagulls) to album rock (J. Geils Band, Alan Parsons Project, Toto) to pop stars like Hall & Oates, Laura Branigan, Olivia Newton-John, and Rick Springfield. Like most installments in the Entertainment Weekly series, the collection isn't a comprehensive overview of every trend in pop that year, but it features only very successful and familiar singles, hangs together very well, and makes for an enjoyable listen.
