Ethel Ennis has long been a fine jazz singer based in the Baltimore area. For this live set from the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center, Ennis is in extroverted form, getting the audience to participate on several occasions, sometimes saying as much as singing the lyrics, and putting a lot of spirit into each number. Some of the performances are lost a bit without the visual aspect and there are meandering sections with a few selections overstaying their welcome. But Ethel Ennis is in good voice, her rhythm section is alert and swinging, and the audience clearly enjoyed the show.
