Popular the world over, Costa Rica-born and Mexico-raised Chavela Vargas has for years been one of the leading voices in Mexico's ranchera genre, as proven by this collection, featuring a legendary performance at New York's Carnegie Hall in 2003. Released in 2004, it features the then 84-year-old singer performing some of her best-known work, such as the legendary "Macorina" and "La Llorona."
