AllMusic Review by

The three-song Emma Blowgun's Last Stand EP is, at least for American audiences, recommended to Beulah completists only -- nothing against the music in question (though edited for inclusion here, the sun-kissed title cut is in nevertheless the indisputable highlight of their excellent sophomore effort When Your Heartstrings Break), but the B-sides simply reprise a pair of songs from their debut, Handsome Western States. For legal reasons, the debut remains unavailable overseas, so Emma at least offers British listeners a taste of what they're missing -- the Pavement-inspired "Disco: The Secretaries Blues" is particularly exceptional -- but Yanks should spring for the full-length instead.
