AllMusic Review by

Elomar is one of a kind. Alone in a style of which he is the sole proponent, he had classical training, but lives in a small rural location ingrained in the Northeast, from where he extracted the folklore that is the raw material of his beautiful, exquisite, medieval-flavored modal tunes. In this album he is already taken by the passion of writing for symphonic orchestra and choir, and here he is accompanied by the eminent Quarteto Bessler-Reis and Octeto Vocal Muri Costa, both conducted and directed by Jaques Morelembaum, who adapted some of the original score for the smaller ensemble. The album comprises the antiphon "Incelença ad Moribundum Solem" (Incelença for the setting sun) and an excerpt of the "Balada do Filho Pródigo" (recorded alla minstrel, only voice/violão). His music, haunting and mysterious, reaches deep emotional strings with its rustic sophistication.
