Recorded live at an open-air festival in Hakone, Japan, on August 6, 1971, this bootleg is pretty good by the standards of audience recordings, but not too good by the standards of most listeners. Although the instruments come through pretty well, the fidelity is far from perfect, and very far from perfect with regard to the vocals, which lack definition and clarity. While the performances on this five-song, 45-minute CD -- including "Green Is the Colour," "Careful with That Axe, Eugene," "Echoes," "Atom Heart Mother," and "Cymbaline" -- are good, they're also not much different than other live versions in circulation from early-'70s Pink Floyd concerts. And since there are quite a few other bootlegs of such shows -- including performances of this material from the time -- in considerably better sound quality, this has to be considered not just one for completists, but one for fanatical completists only.
