AllMusic Review by

This long out-of-print European LP features Earl Hines's first eight solo recordings, remarkable performances that show just how advanced a pianist he was in 1928. The remainder of the set is from Hines's first two recording sessions, as a sideman with Lois Deppe's Serenaders for "Congaine" and backing singer Deppe on four other numbers; all from 1923. This historically significant music should really be made available in coherent form on CD since this particular LP is completely unavailable.
