A short-lived offshoot of Index for Potential Suicide, the Disease only managed to release three tracks on a split EP with Racebannon before splintering. The ten-track compilation Dyslexic Experts in Reverse Psychology (nyuk nyuk nyuk) gathers those three songs and outtakes from the same sessions for a complete overview of a minor band. Basically, the Disease were a slightly more experimental version of Index for Potential Suicide, with most of the screamo elements de-emphasized in favor of the introduction of no wave sax, clarinet, and electronics into the group's fractured, deliberately chaotic take on post-hardcore. Not as aggressive as Index for Potential Suicide, but also not quite as weird and artsy as they seem to have wanted to be, the Disease are mostly of interest to completist fans of Index for Potential Suicide and the Avenging Disco Godfathers of Soul, this lot's next incarnation. Anyone else listening to these brief blats of experimental post-punk noise is likely to feel like they've heard all this before.
