AllMusic Review by

For the true Ellington fanatic who needs every one of his recordings, this LP contains the soundtracks from three of Duke's earliest film appearances. One gets the soundtrack of 1929's Black and Tan (which featured trumpeter Arthur Whetsol in a prominent role), 1933's A Bundle of Blues (including Ivie Anderson singing "Stormy Weather") and 1935's Symphony in Black; the latter has one blues chorus by Billie Holiday. A well-done package, but not essential.
