AllMusic Review by Andy Kellman

Amerie's time on Def Jam amounted to only one album, In Love & War, released in 2009. After that, the singer plotted albums -- Cymatika, Vol. 1 and a sequel to Because I Love It -- that did not materialize. Following a change in the spelling (but not pronunciation) of her performing name, Ameriie released some true-to-form independent singles in 2014 and 2015, then issued this six-song EP in 2016. Most of the characteristics that colored her first four albums are still present. Dusty and vigorous drum patterns and glossy synthesizers remain as fundamental, and so do the highly energized multi-tracked vocals that express joy, longing, and anguish. On opener "Every Time," she reunites with Fabolous, whose intro is connected to the song's theme, but the brightest spots are "Sing About It" and "Trouble with Love," a pair of cuts that would have been among the highlights on Because I Love It and In Love & War.
