The idea behind the Dracula: King of Vampires compilation is pretty cynical: late-'90s goth-rockers contribute tracks inspired by the title character just in time to pull off a marketing tie-in with the 100th anniversary of Bram Stoker's novel, on the assumption that goth fans will buy it simply because it's "about vampires." The music isn't too bad, featuring contributions from Ex-Voto, the Last Dance, Wreckage, Desmo Donte, the Shroud, Immortalis Amor, Stone 588, T.H.C., Dichroic Mirror, Purr Machine, I Found God, Penis Flytrap, Cruciform, and Stun Gun; it's just that the marketing strategy is so condescending.
