This CD contains performances taken from broadcasts of the Dr. Jazz radio show. Although the band is led by rhythm guitarist Eddie Condon (who is mostly inaudible), the star throughout is cornetist Wild Bill Davison, who receives co-billing on the set. Teamed up with trombonist Cutty Cutshall, the distinctive clarinetist Edmond Hall, pianist Gene Schroeder, Bob Casey or Bill Goodall on bass and Buzzy Drootin, George Wettling or Cliff Leeman on drums, Davison is typically explosive and highly expressive on a variety of Dixieland warhorses. Few surprises occur during tunes such as "Dippermouth Blues," "At the Jazz Band Ball," "I Want to Be Happy" and "Fidgety Feet," but Dixieland fans will enjoy the spirit and drive of the music.
