Although guitarist Doug MacDonald had recorded two other albums for the tiny Sharp Eleven label by this time, it was the release of this CD and his rising prominence in Los Angeles that resulted in him getting a bit of recognition. A superior bop-based guitarist in the tradition of Barney Kessel and Herb Ellis, MacDonald swings through a program filled with jazz standards, holding his own with pianist Ross Tompkins, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Jake Hanna. Easily recommended to fans of the bop guitar.
