Mark Isham's score for the thriller Don't Say a Word is tense, subtle, and, above all, lean, comprising eight compositions at just over 30 minutes. Pieces like "Heist," "Kidnapped," "Mishka," and "A Family" don't overstate the film's emotions; while this works perfectly within the movie's context, it doesn't always make for the most gripping listening outside of the theater. Still, there's enough here to make this album worthwhile for serious score buffs.
