AllMusic Review by

Don't Change Me Now pulls together most of the better efforts from Mavis Staples' solo career, being a composite of two solo albums, Mavis Staples and Only for the Lonely, recorded for Stax subsidiary Volt in 1969 and 1970, respectively. (In that, it's very similar to a separate collection with the same title, Only for the Lonely [Compilation].) Ace has added a number of originally unreleased tracks to this collection. The liner notes are well written and the sound is fine.
