Domestic Power of Violence Review

by Tom Forget

DOMESTIC POWERVIOLENCE is the unholy union of brain and brawn between the drum machine-augmented bass rumble of Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Apartment 213’s blood-soaked “power violence." While the Agoraphobic portion of the LP is tasty, it’s but a morsel of slow, low-end sludge heaviness with mastermind Scott Hull’s trademark sonic excellence on full display. The seven Apt. 213 songs, some of which have been re-worked from lower-budget versions, are a study in blunt-force trauma. The re-recordings spotlight the clenched fist, bile-spewing rage of Apt. 213 that was buried a bit under lesser production previously.
