AllMusic Review by

Roy Davis, Jr.'s simply titled DJ Mix album features many of the Chicago house DJ's best-known tracks from the late '90s, most notably his two Peven Everett collaborations, "Gabriel" and "Watch Them Come," in addition to tracks by several other noteworthy house producers, including Kerri Chandler, Jordan Fields, Mateo & Matos, Louie Maldonado, and Paul Johnson. Because there are so many Davis Jr. tracks in the mix -- eight out of the 15 tracks, to be precise -- this album functions as a wonderful sampler of the producer's work. And because it's a DJ mix rather than a traditional album, it showcases his mixing skills as well. Overall, this is a great place to begin investigating what makes him one of the more noteworthy artists to surface in the mid- to late-'90s Chicago house scene.
