Unless you listen to a collection like DISNEY'S SUPERSTAR HITS, it's easy to forget how many top-shelf pop artists have contributed songs to Disney films. 16 of them are gathered together here, and they make for quite the sonic smorgasbord. Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson start things out with a duet on the lush pop ballad "Beauty and the Beast," the theme from the Disney movie of the same name. No less impressive a name than Stevie Wonder joins the young men of 98 Degrees for the churning R&B workout "True to Your Heart" from the film MULAN. One of pop music's most unlikely combinations finds Randy Newman and Lyle Lovett sounding surprisingly comfortable with each other on an amiable run through the Newman-penned "You've Got a Friend in Me" from the silver screen smash TOY STORY. From Elton John to Sarah McLachlan, the pop royalty is out in abundance throughout DISNEY'S SUPERSTAR HITS.
