While 2005's Radio Disney Jingle Jams does feature some new material, Disney made the incredibly tacky decision to essentially reissue the 2004 version with the new stuff simply substituted in. So you get the same saccharine Jesse McCartney songs ("Winter Wonderland," "One Way or Another"), the same "North Pole Mix" of Hilary Duff's "Santa Claus Lane," and similarly identical material from Raven-Symoné, Ashlee Simpson, Jump5, and a cartoonishly, nearly criminally awful "rapper" called Fan_3. As for the new songs, Bad Boy R&B family band B5 turn in a pleasant enough, though still too slick "Somebody at Christmas," while CCM trio Everlife offers the marginally better "Every Day Is Christmas." As they did with their August 2005 album Into the Rush, Aly & AJ offer teen pop with some actual feeling on an appropriately cheery "Jingle Bell Rock." There are also previously unreleased songs from Caleigh Peters ("Feels Like Christmas") and the Beu Sisters ("Home for Christmas"). Radio Disney fans don't need Jingle Jams -- they'll hear all these songs on the radio anyway, and the collection's blatant opportunism is pretty much the opposite of Christmas spirit.
