The first EP by Steak from Delta arrived not long after the band's formation -- Dirty Dick is a snapshot of what the band was like at first and a hint of what it would become, including early versions of songs that would be recorded for the group's coming album. In Steak from Delta's debut release, the production is the best they ever got: all the instruments are equally and plainly mixed, and that's what the trio's music really requires -- no artifice. They explore rock with syncopated unmelodic guitar, slide guitar, and drums, excelling in roaring slices of pure energy. The disc ends with a bonus track of strange melodic rock & roll, and one can only assume that the tune is performed by an unknown lineup of the group.
