AllMusic Review by

The Demos and Rarities LP may be only for fans who already know the regular studio stuff (unlike the live LP, which could be anyone's fine intro!), but it has its merits too. The cover of the Beatles' "Day Tripper" with a small smidgen of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" is a nice treat -- again, Vibrators style, with guitarist Knox going all over the place -- and songs such as "Ready Steady Go" (not the Generation X song) show they weren't running out of snappy tunes. The original version of "Whips and Furs" (titled "Dance to the Music") is another plus, and everything is nicely down'n'dirty -- words and music!
