AllMusic Review by

Drawn largely from Sarah Vaughan's 1940s and '50s recordings, Dedicated to You: Songs with a Beautiful Melody is a generous two-disc, 50-track budget collection put out by Britain's Jasmine Records featuring the singer in a variety of settings ranging from intimate trios to bopping big bands and smooth, silky orchestras, all of them showcasing Vaughan's lush tone, bop sensibility, and playful phrasing. Among the many highlights are her nuanced takes on "April in Paris," "Time After Time," the Gershwins' "Nice Work If You Can Get It," the breezy "I Love the Guy," and a swinging "They Can't Take That Away from Me." Four of the tracks feature vintage '40s duets with her mentor Billy Eckstine. There are dozens of decent Vaughan collections on the market, many of which are better annotated than this one, but for a budget price here you get 50 tracks by one of the 20th century's greatest singers, and that's hardly a bad deal.
