Dealin With the Devil captures contemporary blues artists interpreting 12 classic songs of the legendary Robert Johnson. Throughout the years these essential compositions have been performed numerous times, crossing a well-traveled route between both the blues and rock worlds. Since it is impossible to live up to the mythical status of a Robert Johnson, the gutsiest cover versions are those that provide something completely different from the original (i.e., Cream's late-'60s electrified "Crossroads"). While no new ground is being explored on these tracks, overall, it is an emotional and poignant tribute, affectionately presented by disciples of Johnson's style. Highlights include impassioned performances of "Walkin Blues" by Corey Harris, "Come on in My Kitchen" by Josh White, Jr., "Sweet Home Chicago" by Pinetop Perkins, and "Stones in My Passway" by Guy Davis.
