AllMusic Review by

This two-CD set contains 36 songs Sinatra recorded in the 1940s. Beginning with tracks recorded when Sinatra was the crooner in the Tommy Dorsey band and continuing to the end of the decade, there are a lot of tunes here that are Sinatra essentials, like "Saturday Night Is the Loneliest Night of the Week," "Nancy (With the Laughing Face)," and "You Go to My Head." Sinatra also works his magic here on standards like "Stardust," "Autumn in New York," and "That Lucky Old Sun," as well as obscurities like "Dolores," "Hear My Song Violetta," and a rocking take on "The Hucklebuck." This is a nice beginning collection for people looking to hear some early Frank Sinatra.
