In the fall of 1977 the Grateful Dead were on a short tour that included adventures such as being detained at the Canadian border for carrying in (completely legal) bee pollen, as well as a more pleasant stop through Hamilton, New York's Colgate University. Dave's Picks, Vol. 12: Colgate University, Hamilton NY 11/4/77 documents this spirited, fun set from the band, who seem in high spirits throughout two sets that volley back and forth between spacy jamming and tight musicianship. Fan favorites of the era are speckled throughout the collection, including an especially electric "Let It Grow" that blurs into an equally dynamic "Eyes of the World." The November 4th concert is presented in its entirety and the collection is rounded out with bonus material recorded two nights earlier in Toronto at Seneca College Field House.
