Midnight Configuration's Dark Desires is an important release for this one man reign of goth. Not only is this release on the more well known (and well distributed) Cleopatra Records, but it's also a way to introduce Trevor Bamford (the brains behind this project) work to an American audience. More of a best-of compilation, Dark Desires features previously releases material taken from Funeral Nation, Digital Interference, Kissing Skull and Gothtec, origionally available on his own Nightbreed Records. As always, very aggressive goth that has a dark '90s edge, but at the same time a very rhythmic '80s influence a la Siouxsie & the Banshees (thanks to the chilly vocals of Lisa Ross). Creepy samples taken from horror, sci-fi and bondage flicks are sampled throughout this package, accompained by remixes of his well known hits, "Funeral Nation" and "Force," among many others. A very handy release in terms of introducing Midnight Configuration to an American audience, as well as to see why this act has been selling out clubs in Eurpoe for the last few years.
