AllMusic Review by

The Band of Oz were near their top form when they cut the ten songs on this album, for which their usual contingent of five singers with sax, trumpet, and trombone is augmented with an extra trumpet and trombone. On a technical level, Dancing in the Street is first-rate, but what really makes it hold together are the good spirits behind the performances -- there's a lot of love in the doing here, in evidence in the nuances. The vocals are, as expected, top-notch, Jerry West handling most of the leads and Mel Carter and Kip Anderson guesting on "House of Blue Lights" and "My Blue Heaven", respectively. The highlight, however, has to be the live "Four Tops Medley" that finishes the disc. This is an album that one can easily take in more than once in a single sitting.
