The New Tradition takes gospel material from across the entire breadth of this Century for their new album. Five of the dozen cuts are originals, faithfully arranged to fit in with the vintage hymns. This is music meant to glorify, and thus showy display of instrumental skill is sublimated into the all-male groups four-part harmonies. There still is plenty of good, acoustic music. The bass guitar, guitar, mandolin and banjo are well suited for keeping aloft these moving spirituals.
