AllMusic Review by

Crossroad Blues is a collection of early electric blues tracks, and while it features some familiar names, most of the cuts here are not well known. The era covered is often ignored, falling as it does between the prewar country blues period, and the guitar slinger format that developed in the 1960s. Highlights include J.B. Lenoir's clever "Mama Talk to Your Daughter," Sunnyland Slim's "The Devil Is a Busy Man," Snooky Pryor's "Crosstown Blues," and Lightnin' Hopkins' "Walkin' the Streets."
