How much you like Fornes Berlanga's take on Spanish classical guitar music will depend on your enthusiasm for new age fare. The playing is admittedly beautiful, but the strategy of performing "duets" with natural soundscapes almost necessarily constrains the material to background music, since no one in his or her right mind would pump up the volume on a morning chorus of bird songs, for example, unless hard of hearing. Calling this ambient or new age isn't necessarily damning. But even when purchased as part of the Global Relaxation four-CD box set, Corazon Espanol feels a bit lightweight.
