The first Green Velvet full-length takes a musical bed formed from Kraftwerk and Gary Numan, electro-funk, and Chicago's mechanistic jacking house craze to frame Cajmere's fascinating vocal concerns -- which range from emotionless intonations to much more emotive yelling. The bizarre song material balances tech-apocalypse ("Save the World," "Technology's Out of Control") and paranoid musings on all manner of occurrences related to alien encounters ("Abduction") and love life ("Thoughts," "Strange"). Though none of the previous Green Velvet club favorites are reprised for his album, Cajmere has created a raft of future classics, all along the same lines.
