This is the recording that helped Nino Segarra gain considerable airplay and commercial success. Segarra's attractive, melodic charts are an added plus in a largely romantic repertoire, and do not depend greatly on the formulas of most late-'80s salsa; his original charts add relish to some of his better-known hits, such as "Porque Te Amo" (composed by Pedro Arroyo) and his smash "Como Amigo Si, Como Amante No" (by Manny Benito). Segarra knows how to put a production together and, like few singers of the new salsa expression, comes up with his own concept. Con la Musica por Dentro is one of 1990's most prominent salsa productions, where the seasoned singer/arranger/composer has his day.
