AllMusic Review by

This comprehensive Stone Roses compilation charts the band's singles and B-sides up to the year of release. This is amazingly the best way to experience the Stone Roses. Their B-sides are of superb quality, while the singles themselves often represent Brit-pop at its pinnacle. It is noticeable, however, that Compact Disc Singles Collections' track list reads almost identically to the 1995 Stone Roses best-of, The Complete Stone Roses. Admittedly, Compact Disc Singles Collection did arrive three years prior to The Complete Stone Roses, and with extended versions of some of the band's finest tracks ("Fools Gold," "One Love," and "I Wanna Be Adored") together with the shortened siblings. The Complete Stone Roses, however, cuts out much of the dross featured on the 26-track Singles Collection. This is unquestionably a fine album, but the fact that Silvertone's 1995 follow-up, The Complete Stone Roses, is a decidedly similar release, and more readily available, demotes Singles Collection to being strictly for absolute Stone Roses purists.
