Decades-strong Japanese psych collective Acid Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O. offered up three different readings of their epic live set staple "Cometary Orbital Drive" on this collection. Based around a hypnotic off-time riff, the song leaves lots of space for brain-melting guitar solos, bubbly synthesizers, busy bass, and all other manner of psychedelic sound to zip back and forth in the stereo field. An almost 40-minute-long first version of the tune "Cometary Orbital Drive to 2199" opens with extensive beddings of synth atmospherics before jumping into the endless riff, where later versions lean more on Krautrock and even trancelike electronic forms.
