This odds and sods collection from the budget-priced Nascente label has a few well-known Mapfumo cuts, like "Manhungetunge," but the long time period covered, some 24 years (although the earliest cut seems to date from 1987) really does offer a career retrospective. However, the main emphasis is on more recent material, and not much of it appears that rare. Still, as a decent, cheap introduction to Mapfumo and Blacks Unlimited, with their massed mbiras, it's quite a good place to start, with the hypnotic guitar lines and thick grooves under Mapfumo's commanding voice. For longtime fans, however, there's little of interest here.
