AllMusic Review by

Eight years after its first attempt to muscle in on the crowded Floorfillers market, the Clubland brand releases its 17th installment, an impressive feat that only highlights its continued dominance of the U.K. dance music scene. More chart-friendly than its previous collections, the album features Top Ten singles from Lady Gaga, N-Dubz, and Inna as well as remixed versions of huge hits from Rihanna and Kelis. However, Clubland, Vol. 17 doesn't neglect its club roots, with acts signed to the hugely influential AATW label, such as Darren Styles, Ultrabeat, and Cascada, dominating the track list. From the first disc, the ABBA-esque Europop of Agnes' "On and On," Daruso's Italo-house-inspired "Since You've Been Gone," and Edward Maya's Gallic-flavored "Stereo Love" provide the highlights, while Benny Benassi's all-star collaboration "Spaceship," Stromae's saxophone-led "Alors on Danse," and Wiley's techno-grime crossover "Electric Boogaloo" are the standouts from disc two. With novelty hits from Dan Balan and Vengaboys, and cheap cover versions of recent hits such as B.o.B's number one "Nothin' on You," the quality isn't always consistent. But while it may not be as credible as the Ministry of Sound compilations, its mixture of Clubland favorites, exclusive remixes, and future hits should ensure that it's just as successful.
