Club Anthems, Vol. 2 Review

by Rob Theakston

Much like its predecessor, this second installment of Club Anthems is a predictably safe adventure into the world of high-energy progressive house and trance, which amounts to a document of commercial clubbing circa 2004-2005. Ably mixed by Bad Boy Joe (not to be confused with the other big Bad Boy in club land, Bad Boy Bill), some of these tunes are so popular in clubs and dance radio shows that their inclusion is inevitable, such as Eric Prydz's remix of the biggest dance hit of the year: Alter Ego's "The Rocker." As advertised, it promises no innovation or anything of meaningful substance; this record is strictly for good times and dancing the night away mindlessly. And there is nothing wrong with that.
