This sprightly South Florida trio shows promise on this well above average debut 7" single. The "ooohhhhs" in the background recall the best of zip-gun punk-pop, and certainly this band makes the most of its hard-hitting, condensed production -- you know, where everything sounds like it's on "10." "Close Your Eyes" "drives" on a winning, well-developed chorus set up by a racing verse, as the still-rough vocals by Johnny Voltage and Carl "Kiss My Ass" Carvajal (hey, don't get on my case, that's what it says on the sleeve!) collide with the spirit of amateurs reaching a competent level and more. On the other side, "La La La" isn't quite as good, but reminds a little of Mega City Four's "No Time" (see Terribly Sorry Bob collection) for its intentional rubbish repeated "lalala" chorus and sprint pace. Good start. And if you don't like it, you can kiss Carl's ass.
