The majority of Rolling Stones bootlegs have contained live recordings; nonetheless, a fair amount of studio-oriented Stones bootlegs have also come out over the years. One of the more high-quality ones is Claudia, which a bootlegger, calling itself Dead Spider Records, put out in 1981. Between the excellent sound quality and the deluxe color cover, this is an LP that collectors were thrilled to get their hands on in the early '80s. The highlights of this collection of studio rarities range from outtakes from the Some Girls sessions (including seldom heard versions of "When the Whip Comes Down" and "Beast of Burden") to a cover of Jimmy Cliff's "The Harder They Come." Also from the Some Girls sessions are instrumental versions of "Shattered" and "Dance," although the latter ended up on 1980's Emotional Rescue instead of 1978's Some Girls. This rare LP wouldn't appeal to casual Stones listeners, but it's quite interesting if you're a confirmed, die-hard Stones collector.
