AllMusic Review by

The Clark Terry big band has always been a part-time venture, which is a real pity, for the flugelhornist sounds quite natural in front of a jazz orchestra. This out-of-print Vanguard LP contains a live date by the swinging outfit in 1976. Ernie Wilkins's arrangements give the band its own personality, and there is some solo space for Wilkins's tenor, altoist Chris Woods and pianist Ronnie Mathews, among others, although C.T. is the main star. The lesser-known material, which includes four Wilkins originals and Jimmy Heath's "Gap Sealer," is an added plus, but this album will be difficult to locate until it is eventually (and rightfully) reissued on CD.
