Trumpeter Tony Almerico's octet (with trombonist Buddy Castigliola and clarinetist Tony Costa) performs a variety of Dixieland standards such as "That's a Plenty," "Farewell Blues," and "Fidgety Feet" on this long out of print LP. In addition, Buglin' Sam DeKemel (who somehow makes jazz on the very limited bugle; he only hits around four different notes!) guests on five numbers (including "St. Louis Blues" and "Indiana"). But the main significance of this album is getting to hear veteran blues singer Lizzie Miles on definitive versions of "Some of These Days" and "Someday Sweetheart." A fun set well deserving of being reissued on CD someday.
