The team of Louis and Monique Aldebert helps keep alive the style of the Double Six of Paris and other French vocal jazz groups in their singing. Years ago they settled in Los Angeles, where they occasionally appear in local clubs. This tiny label release features the Aldeberts in fine form while joined by a quartet that includes saxophonist Jim Cowger and pianist Louis on keyboards. The sound of the vocalists and their advanced harmonies might take a bit of time to get used to, but it works quite well, although the set's brevity is unfortunate. Highlights include "A Man and a Woman," Chick Corea's "La Fiesta," "April in Paris," and some of the better originals.
