Following the same pattern as the 21 volumes that preceded it, this charity album features live performances from the KTCZ 97.1 studio. An AAA radio station based out of Minneapolis, KTCZ plays a mix of mainstream pop, alternative rock, and NPR-caliber Americana, all three of which make an appearance on Vol. 22. Sarah McLachlan, John Mayer, Colbie Caillat, and Keane are the commercial titans here, with artists like Guster, Sara Bareilles, David Gray, and Court Yard Hounds occupying the second tier. KTCZ also throws a bone to its local supporters, though, by including hometown heroes like Cedar Avenue and Rogue Valley. The result is a compilation that appeals to Minneapolis residents without ignoring a wider audience.
