Tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton sounds overly relaxed on this often sleepy set of Christmas jazz. Hamilton and a rhythm section perform 11 Christmas songs with a string section arranged by Alan Broadbent, who also plays piano. Other than "Bell Carol Blues," tmost of the selections are taken as ballads, and since Hamilton does not generate much heat at all on tunes such as "The Christmas Song," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" or "White Christmas," the performances never rise above the level of pleasing background music.
