Ekaterina Litvintseva's 2015 release on Profil - Edition Günter Hänssler presents Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor and the Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor in live performances with Heribert Beissel and the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, recorded in the same concert at the Seelze Music Festival. Litvintseva and Beissel had collaborated before in performances of Mozart piano concertos, so both artists had a comfortable working relationship that carried over into their tour of Germany, of which this concert was a part. Litvintseva's confident playing and reliable timing held the performances together, and the recording captures her solo part with crisp details, creating a feeling that the orchestral accompaniment is in softer focus, as befits its rather simple but warm supporting role in both works.
