Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire is Bob Rivers' fourth album of Christmas-themed song parodies and novelty tunes. Like its predecessors, the record has its share of funny moments as well as its share of lame filler; which side holds the most sway will depend on whether you enjoy Rivers' wacky, sometimes juvenile sense of humor. Highlights include the two nasty, album-opening parodies of the Chipmunks (a ubiquitous Christmas novelty itself, and one that's ripe for send-up), "Santa Claus Is Foolin' Around," and the song that no Christmas comedy album in the year 2000 could be without, "Pokemon."
