Not quite everything on this three-CD compilation qualifies easily for use in the average chill room -- as a listen to "Sordid" by Amon Tobin will reveal -- not unless post-party chill involves sudden attacks of frantic jazz drum solos. The majority, however, fit the bill quite nicely, with tracks that range from the highly atmospheric (Future Sound of London's "Papua New Guinea") to the downright playful (the Roland 303-driven "Zorg" by Sadie Glutz). Along the way the compilation producers find spots for rushes of spacy synthesizers and a dose of sampler-based modern exotica. The diversity of styles, influences, and mixing methods help to provide the set with its edge (or, perhaps, lack of it). Good to chill by, meditate to, clean the house to, and even sleep soundly to (drum solos or not.) On a sonic level, the package sounds excellent.
