One of ten volumes in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Healing features contemporary instrumentals by the electro-acoustic outfit Inner Dance. Their sound combines not only electronic and organic instrumentation, but samples of nature, which they use on pieces like "Forgiveness," "Healing Waves," and "Distant Shores." Some of the piano-dominant pieces tend to sound a little too much like generic new age music, but the tracks with percussive elements, such as "Peaceful Waters," "Paradise Sea," and the aptly-named "Trance," are both distinctive and relaxing. The album also features a version of "Healing Waves," with Chicken Soup for the Soul creator Mark Victor Hansen reading an inspirational story. A thoughtfully-made album, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Healing is a well-done album of inspirational music that works equally well as a part of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, or on its own.
