Nothing is particularly "deluxe" about this two-disc set. It reissues Chic's first two albums -- both excellent -- in a straightforward fashion with no bonus tracks. Released by the Friday Music label in 2013, it replaces Wounded Bird's 2006 reissue of Chic (1977) and Atlantic's 1992 CD edition of C'est Chic (1978). Between the two albums, there's a fair amount of excellent material not featured on The Very Best of Chic, such as "São Paulo" (a breezy instrumental), "Chic Cheer" (more than a mere mood setter for the second album), and "At Last I Am Free" (a gorgeous quiet storm gem covered by Robert Wyatt).
