AllMusic Review by

The two-fer compilation combines two of trumpeter/vocalist Chet Baker's sessions for Pacific Jazz. Included is his 1955 sextet album and his long-shelved 1957 date Embraceable You. The sextet album features arrangements from Jack Montrose and Bob Zieff, often framing Baker's plaintive trumpet in an unusual chamber jazz setting. Though recorded in 1957, Embraceable You wasn't released for over 40 years. Featuring Baker accompanied by guitarist David "Buck" Wheat and bassist Russ Savakus, Embraceable You is a romantic, intimate collection of ballads that is a must-hear for Baker aficionados.
